US Top 10 16-18/2011

Even though New Years Eve came early last week it couldn’t stay at the number 1 spot as that famous detective Sherlock Holmes managed to piece together the clues to knock it off the top spot.

There were a total of 3 new entries in the chart this week and they make up the top 3, going in at a low number 3 due to the fact it only opened in 425 screens (goes on full general release on Wednesday) is Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol, doing better by going in at number 2 was the new Chipmunks film Chipwrecked however it was Sherlock Holms a Game of Shadows that found it’s way to the number 1 spot.

9 – Arthur Christmas – $3.600.000 – $38.547.000

8 – Hugo – $3.625.000 – $39.073.000

7 – Young Adults – $3.650.000 – $4.090.000

6 – Twilight Saga  Breaking Dawn Part 1 – $4.300.000 – $266.400.000

5 – The Sitter – $4.440.000 – $17.721.000

4 – New Years Eve – $7.420.000 – $24.826.000

3 – Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol – (NE) – $13.000.000

2 – Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked – $23.500.000

1 – Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – (NE) – $40.020.000

 

The new release attempting to get into next weeks chart are well spread out so all i will say over the next week the new films aiming for your bucks are The Adventures of TinTin (Wednesday), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Wednesday), We bought a Zoo and The Darkest Hour (Sunday).
