Box office top 10 – W/E 26/01/15

Taken 3 reign at the top of the chart has finally come to a end however it wasn’t knocked off the top spot by one of this weeks new films, it was in fact last weeks highest new entry American Sniper that finds it’s way at the top of the chart.

When it comes to new films in the chart their were three in total, going in at number eight was the remake of the 80’s thriller The Gambler starring Mark Wahlberg, hitting the number seven spot was comedy (i use that word lightly) starring Johnny Depp as bumbling idiot Mortdecai, the highest new entry though went to brilliant Sci-Fi thriller from the mind of Alex Garland with Ex Machina at number five.

Upcoming – It’s another week where four films have the chance to be part of next weeks top 10, on release is animated adventure from the minds of Disney with Big Hero 6, very strange and quirky comedy drama Inherent Vice, slick spy action film in Kingsman: Secret Service and Australian drama Son of a Gun.

Well nothing seems to be able to move American Sniper from the top of the chart as the film has no managed to go past the $200 million in just two weeks.

The only new entry in the top five went to thriller The Boy Next Door which went in at number two.

One film missing from the top five was Johnny Depp’s new movie Mortdecai which has official bombed at the box office, the film only took in just over $4 million on a budget of $60 million.
