US Box Office Top 10: 6-8/01

This is the first US box office top 10 that we at the Monday Movie Show have done of 2012 and it’s a really good one to kick things off even though there was only 1 new entry but that film went straight into the number 1 spot.

Last weeks number 1 film and the film to kick off the US box office top 10 of 2012 could not hold on to the number 1 spot being knocked off by the first new horror film of the year the Devil Inside which managed to do much better than was thought of it despite getting some really bad reviews.

Bit of a mixed week for new entries next week, there are 4 films of note first off Mark Wahlberg’s new action film Contraband then there is comedy musical Joyful Noise, thirdly hot on the heels of the 3D release of the Lion King we have Beauty and the Beast and finally is horror film from Xavier Gens (Frontier) The Divide.

US Top 10 16-18/2011

Even though New Years Eve came early last week it couldn’t stay at the number 1 spot as that famous detective Sherlock Holmes managed to piece together the clues to knock it off the top spot.

There were a total of 3 new entries in the chart this week and they make up the top 3, going in at a low number 3 due to the fact it only opened in 425 screens (goes on full general release on Wednesday) is Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol, doing better by going in at number 2 was the new Chipmunks film Chipwrecked however it was Sherlock Holms a Game of Shadows that found it’s way to the number 1 spot.

10 – The Muppets – $3.454.000 – $70.928.000

9 – Arthur Christmas – $3.600.000 – $38.547.000

6 – Twilight Saga  Breaking Dawn Part 1 – $4.300.000 – $266.400.000

5 – The Sitter – $4.440.000 – $17.721.000

4 – New Years Eve – $7.420.000 – $24.826.000

3 – Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol – (NE) – $13.000.000

2 – Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked – $23.500.000

1 – Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – (NE) – $40.020.000

The new release attempting to get into next weeks chart are well spread out so all i will say over the next week the new films aiming for your bucks are The Adventures of TinTin (Wednesday), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Wednesday), We bought a Zoo and The Darkest Hour (Sunday).

UK Box Office Top 10 – 12/12

Poor Arthur Christmas it tried it’s hardest to knock Twilight off the top spot and it succeeded last week however it could only hold on to the number 1 spot for only 1 week as one of this weeks new entries has managed to knock down a peg.

There were a total of 4 new entries in the top 10, going in at number 10 was Another Earth, doing better better but only going in at the number 8 spot was the new Harold and Kumar film, doing much better than those two was the star studded cast of New Years Eve that managed to hit a very high number 3 however going straight in at number one was that cute ginger cat Puss in Boots.

10 – Another Earth – (NE) – £90.950

9 – The Thing – £177.951 – £939.503

8 – A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas – (NE) – £183.798

7 – My Week With Marilyn – £192.834 – £2.446.533

6 – Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 – £680.927 – £28.777.640

5 – Happy Feet 2 – £724.126 – £2.925.391

4 – Hugo 3D – £732.902 – £2.453.609

3 – New Years Eve – (NE) – £1.285.552

2 – Arthur Christmas – £1.429.923 – £13.373.624

1 – Puss in Boots – (NE) – £1.975.758

There are only 2 new films out this week however i think that they will make up the number 2 and 1 spot, the movie i think that should go in at number 2 is Alvin and the Chipmunks:Chipwrecked, however the movie that i think that will go in at number 1 is Sherlock Holmes a Game of Shadows.

US Box Office Top 10 – 9-11/12

There were only 2 new entries in the top 10 this week however one of them finally knocked Twilight off the top spot, the first new entry went to the screwball comedy the Sitter but the new entry that gave those vampires a kicking was the star studded cast of New Years Eve.

Before i get on to the chart there was another new entry of note it didn’t make it into the top 10 but Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy opened up in only 4 screens but took $320.000 giving it a average of $75.250 per screen.

10 – Immortals – $2.442.000 – $79.850.000

9 – Jack and Jill – $3.200.000 – $68.642.000

8 – Happy Feet 2 – $3.750.000 – $56.850.000

7 – The Descendants – $4.835.000 – $23.635.000

6 – Hugo – $6.125.000 – $33.489.000

5 – Arthur Christmas – $6.600.000 – $33.490.000

4 – The Muppets – $7.073.000 – $65.837.000

3 – Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 – $7.900.000 – $259.500.000

2 – (NE) – The Sitter – $10.000.000

1 – (NE) – New Years Eve – $13.705.000

There are 3 huge new release this week that should make up the top 3, first off the movie that will go in to the number 3 spot should be Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked, secondly the movie that i think will go into the number two spot is Sherlock Holmes a Game of Shadows and finally the movie that i predict that will go to number 1 is Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.

US Box Office Top 10: 02-04/12

There were no new entries in the top 10 this week so it was up to last weeks highest new entry the Muppets to knock Twilight off the top spot however it couldn’t manage that so those vampires, werewolves and moaning girls managed to hang on to the top spot.

10 – Puss in Boots – $3.050.000 – $139.522.000

9 – Tower Heist – $4.100.000 – $70.800.000

8 – Immortals – $4.394.000 – $75.588.000

7 – The Descendants – $5.200.000 – $18.087.000

6 – Jack and Jill – $5.500.000 – $64.308.000

5 – Happy Feet 2 – $6.000.000 – $51.785.000

4 – Arthur Christmas – $7.350.000 – $25.292.000

3 – Hugo – $7.625.000 – $25.188.000

2 – The Muppets – $11.200.000 – $56.137.000

1 – Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 – $16.900.000 – $247.300.000

There are a lot of new entries out this week however i have picked 4 of them, two of the new entries have a small chance of getting in the top 10 and two movies which should give twilight a bit of a scare.

First off are the two which have little chance and they are thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin and the highly rated (from us) Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

out of the two that will make it into the top 10 the Sitter has the smallest chance of knocking Twilight off the top spot however it’s the huge cast of New Years Eve that i think should charm there way to the summit of the chart.
