Oscars 2013 Winners

The biggest award ceremony of the year has been and gone and the winners have been revealed for this years Oscars.

Gravity was the biggest winner of the night going away with seven awards taking Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron, Best Soundtrack and Best visual effects.  12 Years a Slave however won the biggest award of the night taking away Best Film.

Both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto walked away with Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club and first time nominee Lupita Nyong’o walked away with Best Supporting Actress beating off favourtie Jennifer Lawrence.

2014 OSCAR Nominations

The nominations for the 86th Academy Awards (OSCARS) have been released and leading the pack with 10 nominations are both Gravity and American Hustle, Gravity’s though are mainly in the technical categories.

American Hustle is leading overal though being nominated seven times in the major categories followed closely behind by 12 Years A slave which picked up six.

The winners will be announced on March 2nd at the Dolby Theatre.

2012 Oscar Winners

When it comes to the Oscars every year there is a film that is tipped to win everything, that didn’t happen this year however the biggest winners on the night winning 5 awards was both The Artist and Hugo however The Artist went away with 3 of the main awards where’s Hugo only took away the technical awards.

 

The only other film to take away more than one award was The Iron Lady however again one of the awards was for a technical category, the rest of the awards were spread out between The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, The Help and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to name a few.

Coming up on this weeks show – 27/02/12

On this weeks extremely packed show we will be looking at cinema releases including spy thriller Safe House starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, police drama Rampart starring Woody Harrelson, and Red Dog starring a… red dog.  In the Blu-Ray/DVD part of the show we’ll be reviewing contraversial and critically acclaimed We Need To Talk About Kevin, a new take on Alexandre Dumas’ classic story The Three Musketeers, Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried are running In Time, James Gandolfini and Kirsten Stewart in drama Welcome To The Rileys, horror sequel Paranormal Activity 3, Psychological drama Sleeping Beauty and Morgan Spurlock returns in his latest documentary The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. Plus we’ll also go over the UK box office top 10, DVD & Blu-Ray top 10 and a movie news special with us going over the winners of the 2012 Oscars.

2012 Oscars Nominations

The nominations for the 84th Oscars have been released and Martin Scoreses Hugo has come out on top with 11 nominations however nipping on it’s tail is The Artist with 10 nominations.  2 films are joint third with 6 nominations and they are Steven Spielberg’s War Horse and David Fincher’s remake of  The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Coming up just behind them are The Descendants and MoneyBall which managed 5 nominations each.
