Coming up on this week. in the cinema section it’s another very packed show with no less than four new releases, Logan Lerman returns in Olympian sequel Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, Johnny Depp teams with director Gore Verbinski, this time also with Arnie Hammer as The Lone Ranger, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Slade are all back in comedy Grown Ups 2, and Steve Coogan brings to the big screen his most famous character in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. On DVD & Blu Ray we review Fede Alvarez’ remake of grizzly horror movie Evil Dead, an all star cast including Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper star in drama The Place Beyond The Pines, Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams star in director Brian De Palma’s remake of French movie Love Crime in Passion, and James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez star in controversial drama Spring Breakers, plus as usual our TV movie of the week, the latest movie news, UK box office top 10 & DVD/Blu-Ray top 10.

Review: Alan Partridge – Alpha Papa

Starring: Steve Coogan, Colm Meaney, Sean Pertwee.

Rating:   Running Time: 90 mins.

Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) works along with fellow DJ Pat Farrell (Colm Meaney) at radio station North Norfolk Digital, a small local radio station. When the station is taken over by a corporation and re-branded into a new station named ‘Shape’, a decision is made regarding the image of the new station, and ageing DJ Pat, who is considered an outsider to most of the staff and whose audience is considered to be too old, is fired from the station as part of the shake up. That evening,  at the launch party for Shape, a disgruntled Pat turns up with a shotgun and takes almost everyone present hostage with Alan being the exception. Read the rest of this entry

On DVD/Blu-Ray we take a look at the first of two teen novel adaptations looking to fill the Twilight void in Beautiful Creatures, Jessica Chastain stars in supernatural horror story Mama, the second teen novel and possibly the first ever zom-rom-com, Warm Bodies, Sir Anthony Hopkins stars as Hitchcock, Ben Affleck stars in director Terrence Malick’s drama To The Wonder and Chloë Grace Moretz stars with Blake Lively in Hick, plus as usual our TV movie of the week as well as the latest movie news and UK box office top 10 & DVD/Blu-Ray top 10.
