Monday Movie Show Catch Up (14 May 2012)

Catch up with this week’s show as we look at Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s teaming up once again for Dark Shadows, Comedy horror with twice the breast count of the first one, Piranha 3DD and Mel Gibson back to basics in How i Spent my Summer Vacation (Get the Gringo). On Blu-Ray/DVD we review Guy Ritchie’s second Sherlock Holmes film in the form of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Michael Fassbender suffers from an addiction to sex in drama Shame, Kate Beckinsale dons the leather outfit again to play Selena in sequel Underworld Awakenings, Jonah Hill stars in comedy The Sitter, action/drama Uncertainty with man of the moment Joseph Gordon Levitt and Xavier Gens disturbing thriller The Divide, plus the latest movie news, UK Box office and DVD/Blu-Ray top 10’s.

US Box Office Top 10 – 10-12/02

New entries are fully in charge of the top 10 this week so much so last weeks number 1 Chronicle has been knocked down to the number 5 spot despite adding another $12 million to it’s balance.

4 films managed to get into the top 10 this week and all four make up the top part of the chart, first off going in at number 4 was the first Star Wars films to be given the 3D treatment, Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace 3D, next up at number 3 was the Rock in kids film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, hitting the number 2 spot was thriller Safe House however it was romantic drama The Vow which has surprised the top 10 by going in at number 1.

New Releases – Even though there are only 3 films out this week 2 of them are big films however the other one should been seen, so first off the US finally gets the brilliant Arrietty, then the romantic action film This Means War will be trying to tempt you however the next Ghost Rider film in the form of Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance has the biggest chance to get to the number 1 spot.

US Box Office Top 10 – 03-05/02

Liam Neeson’s latest film couldn’t hold on to the top spot for more than a week as it was knocked off by one of this weeks new entries.

3 new films graced the top 10, first off going in at number 4 was the Drew Barrymore drama Big Miracle, next up hitting the number 2 spot was Daniel Radcliffe latest film The Woman in Black however it was Chronicle that managed to hit the top spot however it was very close with the number 2 movie.

UK Box Office Top 10 – 30/01/12

Nothing seems to be able to remove War Horse from the top of the charts despite 3 film’s trying the best to knock it off the top spot.

3 new films graced the top 10 this weeks first off going in at number 4 was animated film A Monster in Paris 3D, then we have The Grey which hit the number 3 spot and finally going in at a surprising number 2 spot is The Descendants.

New Releases – It’s a bit release for movies this week so a lot of films will be trying to smash there way into the top 10 next week.

First off the Rock stars in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Adam Sandler pops up twice as Jack and Jill in Jack and Jill, 4 actors battle it out in Carnage, Elizabeth Olsen makes her acting debut in Martha Marcy May Marlene, Sam Worthington is stuck as A Man on a Ledge and finally the film that is making everybody look up is Chronicle.

A very interesting we this week when it comes to the top 10 as last weeks number 1 Underworld Awakening couldn’t hold on to the top spot for more than one week.

3 new entries have graced the top 10 this week, first off going in at number 5 was Man on a Ledge, going in at number 3 was One for the Money however it was Liam Neeson’s new film The Grey which went straight into the top spot.

New Releases – 3 new films will be trying to get into the top 10 next week however there are 2 small films on a limited release that should be seen.

The 2 small films are the really tense British thriller Kill List and the latest film from Ti West the director behind The House of the Devil, Innkeepers, however it’s Drew Barrymore’s new film Big Miracle, the movie that causing a lot of people to pay attention Chronicle and ghost film starring Daniel Radcliffe Woman in Black that will be fighting to get into the chart next week.

A interesting week for the US top 10 as last weeks number 1 Contraband couldn’t hold on to the top spot for more than a week with the 4th in the Underworld series knocking it off.

3 new entries graced the top 10 this week, first off going in at a low number 5 was Steven Soderbergh’s latest film Haywire, doing much better by hitting the number 2 spot was drama Red Tails which we here cannot wait for however it was the latest Underworld film Underworld Awakening 3D that went straight into the number 1 spot.

On this weeks very packed show we will be reviewing cinema releases including the 4th in the Underworld series Underworld Awakening, slacker comedy starring Jonah Hill The Sitter and Steven Soderbergh’s latest all star action thriller Haywire.  On the DVD/Blu-Ray side we will be reviewing comedy The Change Up starring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman, thriller The Debt starring Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington, comedy from the director of Zombieland and starring Jessie Eisenberg 30 Minutes or Less, Kevin Smiths second final film Red State, the third in the Hostel series Hostel 3, Lars Von Triers Melancholia and finally shark horror Shark Night 3D, plus we take a look at the lastes movie news and go over both UK box office top 10 and the DVD/Blu-Ray top 10.
