Monday Movie Show Catch Up (7 May 2012)

Coming Up This Week (07/05/12)

Coming up on this weeks show we review cinema releases including the return of the whole gang back for sequel American Pie: The Reunion, Jason Statham in action movie Safe and Elizabeth Olsen in Silent House. On Blu-Ray/DVD we review Steven Spielberg’s oscar nominated movie War Horse, kidnapping drama Four starring Sean Petwee, survival thriller Transit starring Jesus Christ himself, Jim Caviezel and horror film Mask Maker, plus as usual our look at the latest movie news and the UK Box Office and Blu-Ray/DVD top 10’s.

UK Box Office top 10 – 21/02

It seems that nothing could shake last weeks number 1 off the top spot even though the second place film gave it a good try.

The interesting thing about this weeks chart is that 3 films in last weeks top 10 made more this week than they did last week however it was oscar favourite The Artist which managed to find it’s way back into the top 10, the biggest surprise however was that there was only 1 new entry in the form of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance which managed to hit the number 3 spot.

New Releases – 3 films will be trying to get your cash so they can make it into next weeks top 10, first off is small Australian drama Red Dog, then we have gritty drama starring Woody Harrelson in the form of Rampart and finally we have Safe House starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington.

UK Box Office Top 10 – 14/02/12

If you thought that the US top 10 was a interesting one this week then the UK one will surprise you, Chronicle last weeks number 1 could not hold one to the top spot for more than a week as four films gave it a very good beating.

4 new movies graced this weeks top 10 infact they took over the top 4 spots, first off going in at number 4 was the romantic drama The Vow, going in at number 3 was the first Star Wars film to be released in 3D in the form of the Phantom Menace, hitting the number 2 spot was the return of The Muppets this time under the wing of Disney and finally a surprised number 1 in the form of The Woman in Black.

New Releases – When it comes to new release this week has to be the worst as there is only 2 new films coming out, first up is drama about 9/11 Extremely Loud and Incredible Close and the second new release is Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance the sequel to Ghost Rider but this time done by the crazy duo behind Crank and Gamer

UK Box Office Top 10 – 07/02/12

Poor War Horse couldn’t hold on to the top spot for another week as it had a huge challenge against a lot of this weeks new entries and it was one of those that managed to knock it off the top spot.

5 new films graced the top 10 this week ,first off going in at number 10 was Roman Polanski’s new film Carnage, hitting a low number 6 spot was Man on a Ledge starring Sam Worthington, doing a little bit better is one of the worst films I have ever seen Jack and Jill, The Rock shows that he can handle a kids movie by going in at number 2 with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, however it was the fantastic thriller Chronicle which managed to hit the top spot on it’s first week.

New Releases – Even though there are only 4 new films out this week of note 3 of them are really big ones, first off David Cronenberg’s new film starring Michael Fassbender A Dangerous Method, then the first Star Wars film to be retro fitted into 3D Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, next up Daniel Radcliffe throws away Harry Potter to star is ghost film The Woman in Black and finally the first Muppet film under Disney finally hit’s our shores in the form of The Muppets.

UK Box Office Top 10 – 30/01/12

Nothing seems to be able to remove War Horse from the top of the charts despite 3 film’s trying the best to knock it off the top spot.

3 new films graced the top 10 this weeks first off going in at number 4 was animated film A Monster in Paris 3D, then we have The Grey which hit the number 3 spot and finally going in at a surprising number 2 spot is The Descendants.

New Releases – It’s a bit release for movies this week so a lot of films will be trying to smash there way into the top 10 next week.

First off the Rock stars in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Adam Sandler pops up twice as Jack and Jill in Jack and Jill, 4 actors battle it out in Carnage, Elizabeth Olsen makes her acting debut in Martha Marcy May Marlene, Sam Worthington is stuck as A Man on a Ledge and finally the film that is making everybody look up is Chronicle.

2012 Oscars Nominations

The nominations for the 84th Oscars have been released and Martin Scoreses Hugo has come out on top with 11 nominations however nipping on it’s tail is The Artist with 10 nominations.  2 films are joint third with 6 nominations and they are Steven Spielberg’s War Horse and David Fincher’s remake of  The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Coming up just behind them are The Descendants and MoneyBall which managed 5 nominations each.

UK Box Office Top 10 – 23/01

It seems that nothing could shift the War Horse of the top spot this week despite stiff competition from 2 of this weeks new releases.

There were 3 new films that graced the top 10 this week, first off going in at number 6 was slacker comedy the Sitter, doing better by reaching number 3 was Underworld Awakening 3D however it was the star studded cast of Haywire that was the highest new entry at number 2.

Monday Movie Show Catch Up (16/1/12)

This week’s show is now available for you to catch up, featuring cinema release reviews of financial drama Margin Call with a cast including Paul Bettany, Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons, Steven Spielberg’s latest movie War Horse based on the book by Michael Morpurgo, and teen alien invasion movie The Darkest Hour. On DVD/Blu-Ray we will be looking at Irish police comedy The Guard starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, 70’s thriller Killer Elite starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert De Niro, The Whistleblower starring Rachel Weisz and documentary The Interrupters, plus our usual UK Box Office Top 10, DVD & Blu Ray Top 10 and the DVD catch up this week is Cold Prey.

Ethan Hunt and his team could not hold on to the top spot for another week as a four legged animal has come and knocked them off the top.

There were a total of 3 new entries in the top 10 this week, first off going straight in at number 10 was the sex drama Shame, doing much better by going in at number 6 was Sci-Fi film the Darkest Hour however it was Steven Spielbergs latest film War Horse which managed to hit the top spot.
