Even though there were a lot of new films out this week only 3 managed to crack the top 10, first off going in at number 8 was Olympic inspired film Fast Girls, doing better by going in at number 6 was Red Lights however it has underperformed despite it have a really strong cast.  The highest new entry though went to Rock of Ages which hit the number 4 spot however like Red Lights it has not done as well as was expected of it.

As predicted last week none of the new films out this weeks has managed to make a dent in the chart with last weeks number 1 Madagascar 3 holding the top spot with not much of a challenge.

Only 2 new films graced the top 10, going in at number 5 was comedy film with Adam Sandler in That’s My Boy however the highest new entry went to Rock of Ages which went in at the number 3 spot however it made well below the estimate by only taking in just over $15 million.

UK Box Office Top 10

Nothing was going to trouble Prometheus this week despite there being a lot of films released only 2 new movie’s managed to crack there way into the top 10, so with this in mind it will come as no surprise to read that the top 3 movie’s have not changed.

As said above only 2 new film’s made it into the top 10 this week, going in at number 9 was Ben Drew’s (Plan B) directorial debut with Ill Manors however this is very low takings for a movie that was released on more than 190 screens.  It was horror film The Pact though that scored the highest new entry going in at a surprising 4th spot taking just under £1 million.

New Release – There is nothing really of note out this week so i don’t see much change in the top 10 next week however if you do want to go and see something new you have two choices, first off is thriller with a impressive cast featuring Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy and Robert De Niro in Red Lights.  The biggest release of the week though is Musical Comedy that feature’s Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages.

US Box Office Top 10

It will come as no surprise to read that last weeks number 1 Snow White and the Huntsman couldn’t hold on to the top spot for more than a week as it had very stiff competition from 2 new films.

Only 2 new movies graced this weeks chart however they were big releases, first off going in at number 2 was Ridley Scott’s return to Sci-Fi with Prometheus however it was the 3rd in the Madagascar series in the form of Madagascar 3: Europe’s most wanted that was the highest new entry going straight into the number 1 spot but it was released on 600 more screen’s than Prometheus.

UK Box Office Top 10

UK Box Office Top 10

Not a very good week at the box office and that’s thanks to the really warm weather, so despite there being 4 new entries in the top 10 and there being a new number 1, this week saw some of the lowest takings since last October.

As said above 4 new films graced this weeks chart, first off hitting the number 10 spot despite only being on 26 screens was comedy Sci-Fi film Iron Sky, going in at number 7 was the latest film from Wes Anderson, Moonrise Kingdom, hitting the number 4 spot but doing worse that what was expected of it was What to Expect When your Expecting, however it was the Men in Black in there third outing that went straight into the top spot but it’s not good news for the film, the takings for MIB 3 were way down from the 1st and 2nd films and this is the worst debuting number 1 film for a while.
